I over heard a conversation about this here at work and I’m curious if there are any laws concerning this. Here’s the background info…
Our mechanic was speeding and got pulled over. He was cited on the ticket for speeding and driving an uninsured vehicle. At court, the judge dropped the speeding violation(why, I don’t know) but left $90.00 for driving uninsured. Now, here’s the fun part. He was doing work related things during working hours and was told by the company to use this vehicle(I’m sure it wasn’t done intentionally) for his job. So who should pay the $90? Is he responsible because he was speeding? Even though the judge dropped the charge, or is the company at fault for telling him to use the vehicle? they say it’s his responsibilty to make sure vehicles are insured.
I would like to know if there are laws, or anything solid and concrete that define who is at fault. Opinions aren’t worth much, I already have mine.
thanks for the rapid responses…i forgot to specify a bit of information, the driver didn’t know the vehicle was uninsured, he assumed it was because in previous companies vehicles we’re insured. and i think the company just forgot it was uninsured. This all happened in WA state
