I work only a part time job and I am uninsured. I have a mental illness and I currently go to a place for treatment with a sliding-fee scale, but what should I do if that becomes unavailable??
It depends on your situation, but if your current treatment becomes unavailable, get in contact with the county human services where you live. They can tell you what you can do/where to go.

i work at an mhmr clinic and there should never be a time where something is not available for you. you might have to travel further or something if your clinic shuts down or something. we have the sliding scale too, and we are funded by the state. so hopefully those types of places wont be shut down. there are also regular family care physicians in most towns that have some sort of lower income system, and depending on the severity of your mental issues, they can help you out. medication are easy to come by as well. walmart has a great list of medication you can get for $4 as well has other supermarkets and walgreens have similar plans for different amounts of money.
there are also website that offer help with application to get the brand name expensive medication
pparx.org is the one i use at my office almost everyday
its not as easy to get medicaid as some people thing and many many regular doctors dont take it, so that is not always a solution either. if you mental disorders keeps you from being able to work you can also talk to someone at your local social security office and try to get disability. medicare will start after 2 years on disability.
